"Between" The Ultimate Gaming by Individuality (Critical Notes on
Contribution to Philosophy)
Usually, the word "charm" is not readily associated with a
philosopher. Yet Martin Heidergger may well be considered an
exception. In his early years, his lectures and speeches would
routinely draw a large crowd of audience from all over Germany, who
were always mesmerized by his ability to charmingly project
philosophical intricacy beyond comprehension. Quite likely, the
charm was simply rooted in his unique way of metaphysical
thinking.
Later on, Heidergger consented to put his thoughts into print,
eventually following the instructions of the school chancellor, in
an attempt to fulfill his obligations as a teacher. Hence, the
legendary book "Being and Time". At the beginning, the book was
rejected by the Scholarly Articles Oversight Committee for further
emendations, as the authorities obviously perceived the need to
cater to the intellectual level of his peers, not to mention to
that of the general public.
In the eye of his peers, Heiderggers's books were virtually
"shrouded in mist", with "Contribution to Philosophy (From
Enowning)" posing major academic challenges to their scholastic
capabilities. This book, the actual crown jewel of his thoughts, by
far surpassed "Being and Time" in terms of philosophic depth,
although the latter had been highly praised for being exemplary of
the essence of his intellectual thinking.
Heidergger lamented the lagging intellectual understanding and
appreciation of his work, so much so that he decided not to publish
the book for the time being, even when it was technically ready to
print. As a result, the drafts had sat there for decades until 10
years after his death, when the book was published by his brother
and readers finally got the chance to see its completed
version.
Nevertheless, seeing did not always equal believing, especially in
the case of a book of such intellectual capacity. Heidergger's
thoughts expressed in this book in a sense shake the foundation of
Western idealism handed down from the era of Plato. In addition,
the author's style of narratives deviates from the well-accepted
tradition of academic norms. Even up to this day, "Contribution to
Philosophy (From Enowning)" has still been in some sort of ethereal
existence among merely a handful of scholars.
The book "Between" is an effort to tackle the mystery of
"Contribution to Philosophy (From Enowning)", by combing through
the often disheveled strands of misinterpretations, so as to
provide a passage through the labyrinth of his profound
thoughts.
It is worth noting that the analysis and criticism involved in
"Between" are carried out under Author's unique oriental
perspectives. In addition to the Preface that focuses on Author's
own standing in regard to Heidergger's basic concepts, the author's
critiques are applied accompanying each of 281 chapters throughout
the book.
"Between" serves as the base of Author's philosophical thinking.
Together, these critical notes should be regarded as a
comprehensive representation of his viewpoints.
