There are some really preposterous dummies series topics out there. From technology to religion, to social behavior and to languages. From my experience the technological ones are pretty hard to get into, and have too many tid bits that you don’t need to know. The series call themselves as “a reference for the rest of us”, which helps identify with the mass target audience of helpless people. It also provides other source mediums such as their website and further reading that they recommend.I recommend this book only if you are already familiar with the series and trust it.

I am very fond of the for dummies series, I think they are the best invention after Wikipedia. Such a rich source of knowledge guidance and wisdom. It covers so many topics, and provide broad spectrum of insight on each topic focused. See if their format is appealing to your learning senses, some people like colour coding, some love lists. Others are fine with reading infinite paragraphs. Define your style of learning and see if this book is any good.
