The Gauls have only one fear: that the sky may fall on their heads tomorrow. But tomorrow never comes, says Chief Vitalstatistix. Or does it? It looks as if it's come at last for Asterix, Obelix and the other villagers. And some surprising new characters fall along with the sky. Our friends soon find themselves in the middle of a space race...

Rene Goscinny was born in Paris in 1926, and spent most of his childhood in Argentina, before eventually moving to Paris in 1951. He died in 1977. Albert Uderzo was born in 1927 in a small village in Marne, France. He met Rene Goscinny in 1951 and on 29 October 1959 their most famous creation, Asterix, made his first appearance on page 20 of Pilote. ASTERIX THE GAUL, their first album, was published in 1961 and there have now been 35 Asterix albums.

Another quality Asterix Story - I purchased this one to complete my collection, and was amazed at the storyline - so different from the normal ones found in Asterix. I won't give it away since there are zillions of websites with the synopsis on it, but the characters presented were odd and slightly out of place, until they started interacting with the Gauls, then it seemed "normal" I still stand by my adage, if you like one Asterix Book, you'll like this one, but it is different in storyline from the typical asterixs we grew up with.

I beleive that the previous comment was unfair. This Asterix comic contains all of the puns and other forms of cleaver humour that formally characterised the previous Asterix books. The plot-line isn't one of the best but they can't all be as brilliant as each other. I beleive that it is well worth the effort of buying abd that any true fan of Asterix will not be disappointed by this.

This was a disappointing addition to the Asterix universe. It's an awkwardly combined universe, the Gauls and spacemen, and it just doesn't sit right. This might be a fun read for children, but for myself and other Asterix fans, it's a little bit more than bad.
