This is the first in the trilogy by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts and is a brilliant and imaginative book. I'll try not to give to much away. The book is based around Mara of the Acoma, a high ranking family in the Tsurani world. The story follows Mara as she secures the safety and honour of her family name from her enemies in the Game of the Council. There is pure plotting and intrigue the entire story with many twists and moments you read while holding your breath with excitement or dread. Theatrically written, the characters and landscapes come to life in bright colour with this story, which links with the worlds created in other Raymond E. Feist books as part of the Rift Wars. I highly reccommend not only this book, but the others in the trilogy also. You won't be able to put them down!
