A New Twist to Mysteries
"Formula for Murder" introduces Kat Everitt, a seasoned amateur sleuth, who uses handwriting analysis to narrow the field of suspects and unmask the killer in a campus murder. Scribbled notes become clues; a new twist to crime solving that reveals weaknesses and secrets through knowledge of handwriting and personalities. A tip at the beginning of each chapter provides readers insight into their own writing, and puzzle pieces to solve the crime. Kat zips through the investigation on stiletto heals, and shuffles clues of human failings to pinpoint the killer, seeking an end to increasingly dire threats to all. And then there's the mysterious stranger thrust into the fray. Was his arrival the night of the murder coincidental? Or something more sinister?

Judith Mehl parlayed her writing experience and handwriting analysis expertise into a series of mysteries. As former editor of the journal for the American Association of Handwriting Analysts, she learned an appreciation of mind-to-pen revelation that became an important tool in her books. Protagonist Kat Everitt relies on that science with deceptive charm in the handwriting mystery series, while Judith's long-time interest in nature and medicinal plants came to the forefront in the third mystery, "Murder Most Floral." A new character, Lizzie Ort, assists Kat in her detection work. Lizzie charged forward off the pages of the book and found murder in her own series, beginning with "Fountain of Death." Mehl has published numerous newspaper and magazine articles prior to her move to fiction writing. Her novels are peppered with gardening and medicinal herb information. A former university publication manager, her fictitious characters are colored with the quirks of her real life world. She lives in the mountains where she explores the relationship of woodland plants to their environment and their medicinal value for humans. She is a member of Sister in Crime, Pocono Writers, Bethlehem Writers Group, and the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group. She is also active with the county Children and Youth agency, the Pocono Herb Club, and the Pocono Mountain Quilters Guild. In addition to the handwriting mystery series, "Formula for Murder," followed by "Game, Set, Murder," and "Murder Most Floral," and her new herbal detection series beginning with "Fountain of Death," Judith's work is included in two anthologies, "A Readable Feast" and "Once Upon a Time."
