GOLFLAND describes each one of Scotland's golf courses. It is the detailed, definitive guide to the country's courses. It's the first book of its kind in more than a decade, an ambitious celebration of Scotland's embarrassment of golfing riches.

Useful and informative, it is a practical reference work. Beautifully designed, with stunning photography by David Cannon, it is also a highly desirable gift.

GOLFLAND is an appropriate name for a book about the courses of Scotland, the country recognised as the birthplace of the game. Scotland is a mecca for golf tourists worldwide, who come to play its most celebrated courses, such as Carnoustie, Muirfield and the historic links of St Andrews. Yet for all of Scotland's most distinguished courses, like those which host The Open, there are hundreds of others, some known to aficionados, some so far-flung as to be familiar to only a few. GOLFLAND records and celebrates them all.

If you are planning a trip to Scotland or simply want to explore the richness of the country's golfing landscape, GOLFLAND is essential. For dreaming about some future game, or else remembering one played long ago, it is equally invaluable.

GOLFLAND will answer almost all the questions you might have about Scottish golf courses. GOLFLAND is also the answer to a commonly asked question: what is the perfect gift for the golfer in my life?

About the Author

David Cannon, the world's finest golf photographer, took the beautiful images in GOLFLAND. He has spent a lifetime capturing the world's best golf courses, as well as the most famous players and most important moments in professional golf, including Seve's 1984 celebrations on the 18th green at St Andrews and Jack's charge at Augusta two years later. He's photographed 17 Ryder Cups, 16 Solheim Cups, 38 Opens and 37 Masters. He is a legend in the world of golf photography. A very good amateur golfer in his day, David played alongside Seve in a pro-am in 1976 and alongside Faldo, Lyle, and others in major amateur events before he put down the clubs and picked up the camera. "I was just better at capturing great moments on the course than I was at creating them," he says. "It was easier for me to make deadlines than to make cuts." Michael Atkinson has contributed to golfing titles in the UK and USA, including National Club Golfer, Bunkered Magazine and Links Magazine. His love affair with golf began with his first club membership, Boat of Garten Golf Club, its thrilling course set against the Cairngorm mountains. These days he is also a member of Edinburgh's Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society and Gullane Golf Club in East Lothian, although if the number of golf club memberships is reflective of an increasingly low handicap, he bucks the trend. Craig Morrison's previous publications include 18 Greatest Scottish Golf Holes ("instantly collectible" Forbes Magazine); 18 Greatest Irish Golf Holes ("the most beautiful golf book in the world" New York Magazine); and The Meaning of Golf ("funny, observant and insightful, a tremendous job" Golf Monthly Magazine). He has contributed golf stories to media outlets including Golf Magazine, The Times (London) and The New York Times.
