Aladdin Elaasar is a lecturer and author of "Silent Victims". He is a former professor of Arabic Language and Area Studies at the Defense Language Institute, and the Monterey Institute of International Studies. Born, raised and educated Egypt and the United States, Elaasar is an expert on Egypt and the Arab world. He has been a frequent commentator on the Middle East on American TV and Radio networks and co-hosted a radio talk show in Chicago. His columns were syndicated through the Tribune/NightRidder covering current events and Arab/American issues.
