Tim Lewis is an extremely experienced and accomplished author of 10 books, including history, poetry, philosophy and fiction. He has won prizes and been awarded a number of fellowships and grants for his work, which has reached an international audience. He was born in southern Africa and raised in England, but is now a resident of Charlottesville, Virginia. He has read his work to audiences across America and Europe and his works of history have won him international acclaim. This is his fifth novel. As part of his research, he spent considerable time in Long Island, where he worked with local Shinnecock and Matinnecock Indians, the Park Service and Deaf community. He has visited India three times, as well as China, Africa and the Pacific, studied with Hindu and Buddhist masters and Native American Indians across the States, including a whole summer with the Navajo, and has extensively researched New Society philosophies and principles, as well as the realities of intentional communities.
