Norm Longley was brought up in Somerset, attending schools in
Yeovil and the Quantocks, before studying at university in
Bedfordshire. The urge to travel then kicked in and after a period
of time in Canada, he went to live and work in Novi Sad, Serbia for
several years during which time he travelled extensively around
many of the neighbouring ex-Yugoslav countries, including
Montenegro. After returning to the UK he turned his hand to writing
guidebooks, living in London and Cambridge before resettling in
Somerset, which is very much home base now. He has also written for
The Guardian and the Independent.
This guide was originally written by Annalisa Rellie, who happily
spent a quarter of a century exploring the world with her diplomat
husband. When they settled back in London she turned her hand to
journalism, writing in a freelance capacity for magazines about
travel and food. Her passion for Montenegro, which began with a
press trip in spring 2000, continued to grow exponentially as she
worked tirelessly on four editions of this, the first English
language guide dedicated exclusively to the country. Annalisa died
in early 2014.
