"A wake-up call for the entire planet . . . [A New Earth] helps us to stop creating our own suffering and obsessing over the past and what the future might be, and to put ourselves in the now." -Oprah Winfrey

With his bestselling spiritual guide The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle inspired millions of readers to discover the freedom and joy of a life lived "in the now." In A New Earth, Tolle expands on these powerful ideas to show how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world. Tolle describes how our attachment to the ego creates the dysfunction that leads to anger, jealousy, and unhappiness, and shows readers how to awaken to a new state of consciousness and follow the path to a truly fulfilling existence.

Illuminating, enlightening, and uplifting, A New Earth is a profoundly spiritual manifesto for a better way of life-and for building a better world.

Eckhart Tolle is a contemporary spiritual teacher who is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. In his writing and seminars, he conveys a simple yet profound message with the timeless and uncomplicated clarity of the ancient spiritual masters: There is a way out of suffering and into peace. Tolle travels extensively, taking his teachings throughout the world.

About the Author

Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most inspiring and visionary spiritual teachers in the world today. With his international bestsellers, The Power of Now and A New Earth—translated into 52 languages—he has introduced millions to the joy and freedom of living life in the present moment. His teachings focus on the significance and power of Presence, the awakened state of consciousness, which transcends ego and discursive thinking. Eckhart sees this awakening as the essential next step in human evolution. The New York Times has described him as “the most popular spiritual author in the United States”, and in 2011, Watkins Review named him “the most spiritually influential person in the world”.

Praise for Eckhart Tolle and his work

"[Oprah] Winfrey calls the book 'a wake-up call for the entire planet, one reader at a time. It helps us to distance ourselves from our egos . . . and to open ourselves to a higher self. . . . It helps us to stop creating our own suffering and obsessing over the past and what the future might be, and to put ourselves in the now.'"
—USA Today

"I would do anything to be anywhere in the vicinity of Eckhart Tolle."
—Jim Carrey

"A gentle journey, one that could take you to a spectacular and very special place of new awareness and deeper understanding."
—Neale Donald Walsh, author of Conversations with God

"One of the best books to come along in years. Every sentence rings with truth and power—the power to bring you into the gap, the space between our thoughts, where we find, as Eckhart so beautifully puts it, deep serenity, stillness, and a sacred Presence."
—Deepak Chopra, author of The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success

According to Tolle, who assumes the role of narrator as well, humans are on the verge of creating a new world by a personal transformation that shifts our attention away from our ever-expanding egos. This idea is well realized through Tolle's remarkably well-paced narration. Naturally, the author understands his material so thoroughly that he is able to convey it in an enjoyable manner, but Tolle's gentle tone and dialect begs his audience's attention simply through its straightforward approach. Something about this reading just seems profoundly important, whether one agrees with the material or not, and listeners' attention is sure to be captured within seconds of listening to Tolle's take on the universe in which we live. Originally released in 2005, both book and audiobook were reissued when Oprah Winfrey chose the title for her book club this year. A Penguin paperback. (Feb.) I love Eckhart Tolle's writing style, speaking directly to me, explaining to me, and making me more aware of who I am... I found this book easy to read (re-read) even though, he is quite intense at times. It is a spiritual book, a book about awareness of who we are, about being aware enough to stop and appreciate the stillness around and in us. Highly recommonded to help you forget about the stuff, the stuff that really doesn't matter....

very thought provoking and if you are ready for such intensity in your life then it could possibly help in your transformation, very easy to read and understand as it all makes perfect sense but like all these books its the putting the ideas into fruition that is the hard part,so good luck in your future purpose.

I found the first couple of chapters hard going but I persisted and it was worth it in the end. Many of the teachings are elsewhere, but together with Oprah's online course and podcasts, this book has made a difference in my life and relationships with others. It has solidifed some earlier teachings and resonated with me on a deeper level than I had expected. There are bits I found more helpful than others, and so use what resonates with you, and discard what doesn't.

At start of this book I struggled as I thought I have heard this before and then I couldnt put it down and in the end I didnt want it to end. During troubled/stressful times Ekhardts words come to me and I have this change of attitude and peacefulness within. I have been trying to be in the moment for years now, after reading Ekhardts 'power of now' and I feel like this new book has deepened my understanding and perhaps I ma ready for this deeper understanding as I can now really feel the difference in my life. I came across a notice in my small town for a study group for the book and now I have met some amazing like minded people.
