About the Author

Shani T. Night is a self-proclaimed freelance author who has been writing on and off for the love of writing for over 13 years. Born in Washington DC, Shani now lives in Maryland with her husband and three children. Since childhood, the author has expressed an artistic side which she would eventually share with others. Whether it was in the form of performing arts or visual arts, she has always explored and expressed her imaginary gift of thoughts, and emotions while simply just being herself; at the same time not having her light dimmed. During the last 12 years, there has been a growing need for her to put her thoughts and written words on paper where they can come alive in the form of characters. Her desire is to share her life's inspiration and to inspire the younger audience. Her love of food and fellowship is expressed in her books as she has always expressed throughout her life. Shani writes children's books from inspiration which is aimed to inspire the younger generation. Her hope is that we all will continue to let our light shine, and not allow it to be dimmed. Shani's desire is for all readers to learn the power of words.

★★★★★ Shani Night's picture book story, Paul The Busy Bee, is a delightful children's story that teaches them about honeybees. The story is told in the first person, from Shani's point of view. Shani marvels at all the honeybee does as she watches it. Then she asks questions, some of which are answered at school. The colorful illustrations help carry this charming little story along. As Shani introduces her honeybee friend, the honeybee friend says, "I'm a busy, busy bee. ... with a Buzz! Buzz! here and a buzz! Buzz! there." The repeated words will help young readers start to recognize them and it adds a little sound to the story (onomatopoeia words). This repetitive phrase is repeated later when another honeybee is introduced. The story wraps up with Shani wondering what it would be like to be a honeybee. She insists that she would continue to enjoy having tea with Grandma and she would definitely enjoy lots of honey buns. A clever little story packed with lots of interesting trivia for young readers. Paul the Busy Bee is an adventure in your own backyard and a delight to read. The theme of bees and the outdoors is a great teaching moment for children. The story and illustrations combine to make learning exciting. The story has simple words kids will understand and Shani is a great character the reader will connect with.
