Graham Greene might be a literature great, but this book failed to capture me at all. Perhaps this was because I had to study it for Year 12 English, but nonetheless I didn’t enjoy it at all. There was something about Fowler’s drowning that just didn’t give the story the diversity for me to enjoy it. I’m sure people who experience the war would appreciate it, but it really isn’t a book for young people.
