About the Author

The author was born in the north of England and was one of three children. She was educated in an all-girls Grammar school. Following a year in Europe, where she worked as an au-pair, she went on to study at Oxford, where she was awarded an Honours degree in English and Modern Languages. She became Head of Department in a large Comprehensive school, where she specialised in working with troubled adolescents. She later qualified as a counsellor to offer support to children experiencing difficulties. Scarlett is married with two children; she has always enjoyed writing and regularly entertained friends through letter-writing. She decided 2012 would be the year to write her first book!
