A wonderful Christmas story to give and to share.
Jenny Overton grew up in a Surrey village that is still her home
today. After taking a degree in English she spent most of her
working life as an editor and wrote several books for children. She
wrote The Thirteen Days of Christmas as a story for her younger
sister. Shirley Hughes is one of the nation's best-loved
illustrators for children. She has created some of the most
enduring characters in children's literature and for this she was
honoured with an
OBE in 1999. She has been the recipient of many prestigious awards,
including twice winning the Kate Greenaway Medal.
`Seasonal storytelling at its best . . . perfect for reading aloud
at bedtime'
The Sunday Times
`A book stuffed of lavish spectacle, described with a wonderfully
visual sense of festival.'
The Tablet
`A lovely book to give to any family to share and enjoy at this
time of year.'
Carousel
`"Memorable for its subtle evocation of the mostly forgotten
traditions of Christmas past - the sort of things alluded to in
songs or nursery rhymes. Magical fable, historical novel and crazy
extravaganza combined. Unique and authentic festive
entertainment."
