Brave and clear, 250 new poems from the inestimable Red Hawk. He sees the human condition with open eyes, the insight of experience, and ruthless honesty. Original cover art by Gary Simmons. Noisy Little Men/ Where i work there is a noisy little man who talks too much and often speaks badly of others, hurtfully and without human feeling in the name of truth. Those who hurt and hide behind the truth are a dangerous bunch. i have done it myself and know the kind of sorrow which compels it so i try to take it like a gentleman, kindly and without harsh judgement which is not easy for a noisy little man like myself. i fear the world is full of men like me who talk all the time and say very little, while those who say little and try to say it very well are rare indeed. Hush, you noisy little man before you anger the God whose breath you squander. You do not want to anger that One; God is no gentleman.

Red Hawk teaches English at the University of Arkansas at
Monticello. He has written four books of poetry, and counts among
his greatest fans a collection of critics that include Pulitzer
Prize winners, National Book Award Winners and a Poet Laureate of
the United States.
What makes Red Hawk maybe the most unique voice in American poetry?
One thing all his critics agree on: spare language, plain, even
everyday...."until the insight that you didn't see coming hits you
and takes your breath away."
Red Hawk gives his own rules of thumb for writing: Always tell the
truth no matter how bad you think it makes you look. Write what's
in your body, what you know.
"I read a lot of poetry, and his poems are among the finest, I know you write true. I love reading your blunt, tough words that dance so gracefully over the page, and I've laughed out loud so many times..." -- Kay T Iowa City, Iowa.
