Injured rodeo champion H.D Dalton (Scott Glenn) returns home to an abandoned family farm. Learning that his old girlfriend Julie (Kate Capshaw) has become a widowed mother and that his sister Cheryl (Tess Harper) has put their father Jesse (Ben Johnson) into a nursing home, H.D is determined to turn things around and return to the saddle to ride one last rodeo and save the farm.
